For many years I experienced the inconvenience of maintaining payroll records in excel with little automation, constantly modifying formulae to keep up with ever changing parameters. Reporting was challenging at best and presenting historical data was an arduous task. As a result I decided to invest some time and effort into a payroll application with the hope that my pain could be your gain. While off the shelf applications may have been available, getting them to comply with our local Social Security and Levy regulations was not easy if at all possible.
Two payroll and one backup and restore utility applications are the fruits of my labour. The Journey began at around the turn of the century When I started experimenting with Microsoft excel word mail merge and access. This was the genesis of my venture into VBA. After numerous database, Microsoft Access and Excel VBA programming books and courses, here I am with the end product. The first iteration, TAS Small Business Payroll Application, a basic payroll program that gets the job done without the bells and whistles, became functional in 2009.
Comprehensive Payroll Application on the other hand has a wide array of features and reports and debut in 2022. I like to say, Imagine what you will like your payroll application to do for you and chances are, that feature is available in Comprehensive Payroll Plus Application.
Backup is an important function in any accounting based application. While providing the backup function to Comprehensive Payroll Application, Access Backup Compact and Restore Utility, a standalone backup application was created.
